I think where we as a party erred in our high hopes for 2016 was in our hope that Donald Trump could be anything other than a big government authoritarian, despite his past statements and his political donations history. We have only ourselves to blame, now, for his successes in the primaries, and we are reaping what we allowed Donald Trump to sow.
What’s most concerning is that neither Marco Rubio nor Ted Cruz seem really eager to want to try to correct the ship and reclaim conservatism. Both men, who are outstanding examples of conservatism, have been sniping at each other instead of at Trump.
I may sound like a broken record on this, but it’s something I feel very passionate about. It just feels like someone has set all of my hopes and dreams for the country on a tee-ball stand and are giving Barry Bonds a swing.
Trump must be destroyed.
